Shumaila Inayat

Family Nutrition Program Assistant

Shumaila is the new Fairfax County Adult Family Nutrition Program Assistant (EFNEP). Her job is to provide nutrition and health education to people with limited resources so they may gain knowledge required for a behavior change in order to live a healthy life. “I am very happy with my job because I love meeting new people, listening to them, and helping them meet their needs”.

Shumaila loves travelling and spending time with family. She also paints and reads in her spare time.  

Education
Bachelor’s in Public Health with a minor in Nutrition from George Mason University (2018)

Experience
She has three years of experience working with Fairfax County Public Schools as a substitute. She has been an intern and an employee with the Fairfax County Health Department’s WIC program. During the last semester of college, she had an opportunity to work as a research assistant in a summer grant program (Community-Supported Development of Nutrition Education Tools). The objective of this program was to develop and implement a series of nutrition education tools that will support behavior change in a diverse group of elementary and school-age children within the Fairfax area. In addition, she also volunteered for Real Food for Kids, Meals on Wheels, and So Others Might Eat (SOME).
